My Favorite Green Smoothie

There’s nothing as satisfying as drinking a fresh green smoothie at the start of the day. Green vegetables like kale and spinach are dense with the vital nutrients we crave for in our diets, and vegetables like celery and cucumber provide fiber as well. Apple and fresh juicy dates provide a natural sweetness, and a kick from the ginger root helps wake us up.

When you drink this smoothie, don’t just gulp it down – drink it slowly, enjoy it, and you can even chew it – treat it like a meal. They say kale is the new meat as it’s got so much bio-available protein.

Green SmoothieIngredients:
1 1/2 cup packed spinach leaves
1/2 cup packed kale (no stalks)
2 ribs celery, cut in pieces
1/3 cucumber, cut in pieces
1 apple, seeded and roughly chopped
3 soft dates without pits
1 piece (1 inch) ginger, roughly grated
Sprinkle ground cinnamon
1 cup coconut water, apple juice or filtered water *add more as needed*

Optional – 1/2 cup flat-leaf parsley leaves, 1/4 cup hemp powder or green grass powder.

Method:
1. Wash the fruits and vegetables well, and dry.
2. Put all ingredients in a blender, and blend till smooth (and green!).
3. Serve immediately.
